Welcome to Ms Sarah, a student teacher who will be sharing our space most days. She is a welcome addition to our community who the students had the pleasure of meeting today.
Today we read a chapter called "Chess" in Frindle. Then, we worked a bit more on pronouns. For zae, students should finish "Using Pronouns" and be prepared to take an assessment on pronouns tomorrow.
Then, we finished up some work on European geography and started to talk a bit about economics. We will finish that up tomorrow.
ZAE: Using pronouns.
**7th Grade**
Today we looked some more at figurative language. We focused on onomatopoeia today - words that make sounds like they mean. We read a book and looked at 2 different poems to illustrate this concept. Then, we looked back at more examples from our read aloud book. Then, Ms Sarah read aloud to us from Home of the Brave. As our final look at poetry today, we listened to a song by a Nigerian artist called African Queen.
Lastly today we talked about independent reading. Tonight for zae, students will read over the unit overview and reading independent books. Read over both of these documents and come to class tomorrow to ask any questions you may have.
Also, as this documents says, we will be reading for half an hour EVERY NIGHT. Chart your progress on your reading chart, also passed out in class today.
ZAE: Read both documents, read half an hour.
I have Catching Fire in my back pack and am ready to give it to you-Dylan

ReplyDelete"A sneeze sound in Russian is apchkhi; in Korean it is achee. ACHOO is an acronym for a sternutation disorder called Autosomal Dominant Compelling Helioophthalmic Outburst Syndrome that results in uncontrollable sneezing. After a sneeze, there are a few common responses. “God bless you” (or “bless you”) and “gesundheit” are two. Gesundheit is German for “healthiness.” So I thought that was interesting, seeing as how we were talking about onomatopoeia!
That is very interesting!! thanks for sharing:)
