Fernbank Field Trip

On Tuesday, April 12, we are taking a field trip to the Fernbank Museum to see the Mythic Creatures exhibit. Should be great fun! Here's the permission slip in case yours went missing.

READ!!

Our homework, in 6th and 7th Grade, is to READ in a quiet, dedicated space for 30 minutes (at least 15 pages) each and every night. Students should record the number of pages they read on their Reading Calendar.

**6th Grade**
Today we began class by looking at the difference between informational and narrative text. Then, we practiced some new informational text reading skills. We read about pens/flickas/frindles. Then, we read aloud 2 chapters of Frindle, The Word Wars and Mightier than the Sword. We talked a bit about adages. Parents, maybe you can help your students come up with some to share in class?
Lastly, we revisited European culture by digging through some books from the library and starting to discuss the Cultural Iceberg.

ZAE: Finish working on this sheet about the Cultural Iceberg. Discuss it with someone at home. Be prepared to report to the class about your conversations.

**7th Grade**
Today we finished watching God Grew Tired of Us. What an emotional film!
Then, we worked with partners to do some peer tutoring in order to learn what we might have been missing on our sentence structure assessment. There will be a re-take on Friday at lunch for any student wishing to do better.

ZAE: Do the front side of this book selection sheet. We will head to the library tomorrow to do the rest.
