Fernbank Field Trip

On Tuesday, April 12, we are taking a field trip to the Fernbank Museum to see the Mythic Creatures exhibit. Should be great fun! Here's the permission slip in case yours went missing.

READ!!

Our homework, in 6th and 7th Grade, is to READ in a quiet, dedicated space for 30 minutes (at least 15 pages) each and every night. Students should record the number of pages they read on their Reading Calendar.

The Devil's Arithmetic

We're watching a movie today and part of tomorrow based on a book club selection, The Devil's Arithmetic. It's shown us a lot about what the times would have looked like back then, even if the book is significantly different than the movie.
We also spent some time organizing our folders. Our Europe stuff had gotten quite out of control! Students checked their folders for work in need of revision and I hope to see many of them at tutorial and during Reading and Work Time.
Finally, we did a bit of pronoun work. We reviewed last night's homework and moved onto a new type of pronoun.
For homework:
  • Complete your pronoun worksheet
  • Find a book that is set either in Europe OR during World War II (any theater). Starting Thursday, we will be required to read this book independently and complete assignments for homework. Bring a book by Thursday or be assigned one by me!
