Fernbank Field Trip

On Tuesday, April 12, we are taking a field trip to the Fernbank Museum to see the Mythic Creatures exhibit. Should be great fun! Here's the permission slip in case yours went missing.

READ!!

Our homework, in 6th and 7th Grade, is to READ in a quiet, dedicated space for 30 minutes (at least 15 pages) each and every night. Students should record the number of pages they read on their Reading Calendar.

**6th Grade**
Today we started with independent reading time. Students will be reading independent books for the next several weeks in Humanities. They will record what they read each night on this chart. Once weekly, students will write a Reading Response Log. They have the option of completing a role (like during book clubs) or writing a letter based on these prompts. Both should be pasted into their journal for assistance.
We will do the first one of these this Friday in class as a warm up.
After that, we worked on our research from last week. Students had a chance to conference with me about what they have learned and their research process.

Homework: Read 30 minutes every night. Adjective assessment Friday.

**7th Grade**
Today we took our STAR reading assessment again.
Then, we heard some wonderful read alouds by students of Home of the Brave.
After lunch, we continued working on and conferencing about research. Many students have started writing essays. All of us will see the rubric and think about brainstorming tomorrow.

Homework: As always, read 30 minutes.
