Today, much of our discussion focused on how book clubs went yesterday. Students shared some very honest insights and offered great advice to each other on how improve the quality of discussion.

We also devoted a bit of time to passing back old assignments and re-clarifying expectations. Some work has been lacking specificity and the necessary depth to make it interesting and understandable. We are going to begin working on strategies to improve this.

Finally, we started a video on the impact of World War II here in Atlanta. Students made a T-chart: War in 194os vs. War Today. We traced similarities and differences while we watched the video. We will finish the video tomorrow.

For homework:

A) Students need to read their assigned section for book clubs. Along with that reading, students should complete a Reading Response Log as well as fulfill their book club role.

B) In line with revisiting old assignments, students need practice on writing comparative sentences. So, for homework, please use your T-Chart as evidence and write three sentences comparing life during war in the 1940s to today.

C) Lastly, please keep an eye (and put a Post-it next to) your author's use of italics.
