Fernbank Field Trip

On Tuesday, April 12, we are taking a field trip to the Fernbank Museum to see the Mythic Creatures exhibit. Should be great fun! Here's the permission slip in case yours went missing.

READ!!

Our homework, in 6th and 7th Grade, is to READ in a quiet, dedicated space for 30 minutes (at least 15 pages) each and every night. Students should record the number of pages they read on their Reading Calendar.

Direct Objects, Independent Reading, and Myth Writing - What a day!

We started work today on identifying direct objects. Students have TWO worksheets for homework tonight. It's a lot - but we have a lot to focus on right now with CRCT approaching!
Secondly, we had our weekly Independent Reading time. Ms Laura's book club met to discuss Tuck Everlasting.
Other students found out some specifics of their book projects and had time to plan them out.
These projects, based on the books they've been reading for the last month, will be due when we get back from Spring Break. The rubric and planning sheet give more details about what students need to do. This project will focus on plot and character development because these are elements we have been looking at quite a lot the last month. As always, students have lots of options. They'll be working on these at home - so they should keep that in mind when planning how elaborate these projects will be. One new twist: instead of a worksheet to fill in, students will need to write paragraphs as a book reflection. To help plan out these paragraphs, they'll need to complete this plot graphic organizer like the ones we have been practicing with in class. Sounds like a lot, but keep in mind it's not due until April 12 when we return from Spring Break.
Lastly, we were working on our myths. First drafts are due tomorrow at the beginning of class so we can start to tweak them!
