Fernbank Field Trip

On Tuesday, April 12, we are taking a field trip to the Fernbank Museum to see the Mythic Creatures exhibit. Should be great fun! Here's the permission slip in case yours went missing.

READ!!

Our homework, in 6th and 7th Grade, is to READ in a quiet, dedicated space for 30 minutes (at least 15 pages) each and every night. Students should record the number of pages they read on their Reading Calendar.

Research AGAIN

Students finished their research today - for now. I suspect that as we continue writing and doing other projects, students will feel the need to look up more information, but for now we are done with the first stage of research.
We also had a bit of time for silent reading and to reflect on our research process.
For homework, students should read and complete reading response logs according to their calendars. Some students are finishing some bits of research or refining logs that were passed back today - they know who they are.
Additionally, half of our class has a Research News Report due on Friday. Those students should have already found an article, they should be researching any items they want to know more about and reflecting on their research. Don't wait until the last minute on this; the process might take quite a while.
It was great to see everyone again after my wonderful trip to New Orleans for the CES Fall Forum. Until tomorrow...
