Fernbank Field Trip

On Tuesday, April 12, we are taking a field trip to the Fernbank Museum to see the Mythic Creatures exhibit. Should be great fun! Here's the permission slip in case yours went missing.

READ!!

Our homework, in 6th and 7th Grade, is to READ in a quiet, dedicated space for 30 minutes (at least 15 pages) each and every night. Students should record the number of pages they read on their Reading Calendar.

Welcome to Humanities!

I would like to extend a hearty welcome to all students, new and returning. It was wonderful to hear the room so full of energy and enthusiasm today. Thanks to everyone for their great behavior - looking forward to more of that throughout the year!
Please read this letter that was sent home with students today for parents.
This blog will tell you about what's going on in class as well as link you to documents and websites that we used today. Any font that shows up as a different color should be a link - most often to Google Docs.

Today in 6C:
We looked at our syllabus, got a letter for parents to read, and played some games to get to know each other a bit better. For homework, students need to read their syllabus (purple paper) with parents and return the back sheet signed to me tomorrow.

Today in 7C:
We looked at our syllabus, got a letter for parents to read, and played some games to get to know each other a bit better. For homework, students need to read their syllabus (purple paper) with parents and return the back sheet signed to me tomorrow. We also started to talk about "Student Shields" as items that will protect and sustain us when things start to get hard. Students need to think about 5 questions that they should come prepared to answer tomorrow. They have the option of bringing in pictures, cut outs, printed images or words, whatever they want (smaller than 2x2) to enhance their shields tomorrow.
The questions to consider are:
1) What is the meaning of your name?
2) Why do you try to succeed? What inspires you?
3) What is your unique contribution to the world? What is different about you?
4) If you knew you would not fail - what would you do with your life? What would you love to try?
5) What is your personal motto or favorite quote?

These deep questions should certainly get 7th grade talking tomorrow!
