Fernbank Field Trip

On Tuesday, April 12, we are taking a field trip to the Fernbank Museum to see the Mythic Creatures exhibit. Should be great fun! Here's the permission slip in case yours went missing.

READ!!

Our homework, in 6th and 7th Grade, is to READ in a quiet, dedicated space for 30 minutes (at least 15 pages) each and every night. Students should record the number of pages they read on their Reading Calendar.

It's FRIDAY! Enjoy your weekend!!

*6th Grade*
Today we took the STAR reading test to figure out what each student's reading level is - so we can find them a just right book.
Then, we talked about BELIEFS: things that we believe in, what's important to us, and the things that we value or consider. For Monday, students should bring in a visual representation of what they believe in.
For the rest of class, we worked on assembling our pizza boxes.

*7th Grade*
Today we continued talking about government types.
On Monday, students will share about the government type they learned about today. By the end of Monday, we should know key features, advantages, disadvantages, and key vocabulary for 8 theories of government:
  • dictatorship
  • international
  • theocracy
  • democracy
  • communism
  • oligarchy
  • monarchy
  • anarchy
After lunch, we talked about what makes a good book talk. Then, we separated off into groups and asked each other deep thinking questions about Messenger. Some great conversations got going today! Looking forward to hearing more student thoughts about Messenger next week! By Tuesday, students should read up to Ch. 13 and complete another assignment.
