Fernbank Field Trip

On Tuesday, April 12, we are taking a field trip to the Fernbank Museum to see the Mythic Creatures exhibit. Should be great fun! Here's the permission slip in case yours went missing.

READ!!

Our homework, in 6th and 7th Grade, is to READ in a quiet, dedicated space for 30 minutes (at least 15 pages) each and every night. Students should record the number of pages they read on their Reading Calendar.

Cover letters and sentence types

Today Ms Laura led the class in a couple of activities (I was at the dentist)...
1) Students worked on drafts of their cover letters for portfolios.
2) Students revisited their knowledge of sentence types by taking a look at their own writing. Students need to examine about a paragraph from their recent myths with their new knowledge of sentence types in mind. Many students were formerly fans of run-on sentences and fragments. No longer!
For homework, please finish revising at least one paragraph. Make sure there are no run-ons or fragments. Also, ensure that you have used at least one simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex sentence in this paragraph. Sentence variety makes our work more interesting!
With this knowledge, students will be well armed for seventh grade!
